AIRMOB is a European project formed by a consortium of 23 members, including universities, companies, public authorities, and Vocational Education and Training (VET) entities. Its goal is to create clusters focused on education and training in the field of Innovative Air Mobility.
With a four-year duration and funding from the ERASMUS+ programme, the project aims to strengthen skills and capacities in the Innovative Air Mobility (IAM) sector, an emerging and strategic area for the future of mobility. The project consortium is led by Deep Blue SRL.
AIRMOB focuses on the creation of Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs) in five countries: Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Spain, and Turkey. These centres will serve as hubs of knowledge and innovation, reinforcing the connection between academia, industry, and policymakers.
In Portugal, the CoVE includes INOVA+, the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB), ALMADESIGN, ENSINUS, and the University of Beira Interior (UBI) – the leader of the Portuguese CoVE.
The Strategic Role of INOVA+ in the AIRMOB Project
INOVA+ plays a role in almost all areas of the project, having a central impact on its success. Its contribution is mainly focused on: mapping and activating the Innovative Air Mobility ecosystem; designing a strategic transformation aligned with regional and European priorities; leading evaluation and quality assurance, ensuring the excellence and sustainability of the results achieved.
Objectives and Expected Results
The main objective of AIRMOB is to improve the quality and relevance of VET offerings, promoting flexible and modular training adapted to current and future skills needs in the IAM sector.
Key expected results include:
- Creation of new VET programmes;
- Updating existing training offers;
- Development of micro-credentials to support flexible learning;
- Strengthening solid partnerships to foster innovation and excellence in the sector.
Through its collaborative and continuously innovative approach, AIRMOB will contribute to the development of dynamic regional ecosystems that stimulate skills development, boost employment, and generate policy recommendations and educational practices that last beyond the project’s duration.
By actively participating, INOVA+ reinforces its mission of supporting innovation and skills development in strategic sectors, consolidating Portugal’s role in European leadership in Innovative Air Mobility.
