Led by INOVA+ and funded by the Horizon Europe program, the EPIC-X project aims to transform the European innovation ecosystem by promoting deep tech startups led by women.

Facing two major challenges—the underrepresentation of women in the tech sector and the fragmentation of regional ecosystems—EPIC-X seeks to reduce gender and regional inequalities by creating an interconnected network of innovation ecosystems and empowering female entrepreneurs with resources, training, and sustainable growth opportunities.

Focused on 16 countries classified as “moderate” and “emerging” in terms of innovation, EPIC-X leverages each region’s areas of expertise to promote interregional collaboration among startups, investors, and academic institutions. Through this approach, the project not only accelerates innovation but also fosters inclusion, ensuring that women take a central role in building a more equitable tech future.

EPIC-X Strategic Actions

EPIC-X implements a diverse set of initiatives to achieve its objectives:

  • Dissemination and Mobility Events: Organizing workshops, exchange visits, and multiplier events to engage diverse audiences and promote large-scale cooperation.
  • Acceleration+ Program: A comprehensive program that provides direct support to startups, including mentoring, international mobility, and cross-fertilization activities to facilitate knowledge exchange and best practices between regions and sectors.
  • Talent and Innovator Network: Establishing a European network connecting startups with investors, mentors, and key stakeholders, while highlighting women leaders as role models.
  • Educational and Policy Materials: Developing resources such as white papers with policy recommendations and scientific publications to influence strategic decision-making.
