The ENACTEST project, funded by the Erasmus+ program, is developing new strategies and tools for teaching software testing. The initiative involves partners from business and academic sectors across five European countries.

INOVA+ is part of the ENACTEST project consortium, taking responsibility for communication and dissemination as well as quality management. The project spans two years of development and is being implemented by nine partners from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Sweden, and Belgium.

ENACTEST Project Promotes Innovation in Software Testing Education

On the research side, the project focuses on understanding the cognitive processes associated with test design by students and professionals. After collecting qualitative data, which included interviews and surveys, the development of an initial cognitive model began. This model aims to identify gaps between current teaching practices and students’ understanding, contributing to the development of new pedagogical approaches.

One of the major advances of ENACTEST is the creation of educational materials, including learning capsules focused on software test design. These capsules are learning units that can be easily integrated into computer science and software engineering courses. So far, 17 capsules have been developed in various formats, such as educational games and learning environments.

Next Steps of the ENACTEST Project

The next phase of the project includes the implementation of these prototypes, along with the creation of support materials such as videos and podcasts to facilitate their use in educational settings.

In conclusion, the ENACTEST project is on track to achieve its main goals, particularly in the development of innovative materials and the implementation of dissemination activities that ensure the integration of the results into higher education curricula across Europe.
