INOVA+ is representing in Brussels six Intermunicipal Communities of Portugal Centre Regions – IMC Beiras and Serra da Estrela, IMC Beira Baixa, IMC Médio Tejo, IMC Viseu Dão Lafões, IMC Região de Coimbra and IMC Região de Aveiro.

The representative service of these Intermunicipal Communities seeks to provide the regions with information on programs, policies and legislation relevant to their strategic interests, to link contacts between the IMC and the European organizations and to represent them at events directly related to their strategic lines. At the same time, we help finding opportunities, and integrating of consortia and actions of interest to their activities are identified, so that we can bring closer Portuguese institutions to the offer of European entities.

At European level, besides the trialogue, there are many other advisory bodies, such as European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions, specialized agencies that provide technical or scientific information and help managing the EU institutions, Member States and citizens.

The representation of these Communities to the European Union has been adding achievements. Associated to the Brussels meets Regions initiative, the IMCs of the Centre Portugal Region met, in Brussels, in January 2018, the European Commissioner Carlos Moedas. Responsible for the Research, Science and Innovation portfolio, over the last four years, the Portuguese Commissioner has been responsible for the largest EU Research and Innovation framework program – the Horizon 2020.

Regarding the European funding programs, we highlight, with the support of INOVA+, the three projects approved in the last call of the URBACT program, with lead partner coordination, of municipalities in the central region – Coimbra, Leiria and Fundão.
