A new call under Horizon Europe’s “Soil Mission” is now open, featuring two specific topics aimed at supporting the creation and expansion of living labs to implement the mission’s objectives. The total available budget is approximately €48 million.

Soil Mission
To achieve the goal of healthy soils by 2050, the European Commission set a target under the EU Soil Strategy for 2030 and proposed the Soil Monitoring and Resilience Directive. This directive addresses key threats to soil such as erosion, flooding, landslides, loss of organic matter, salinisation, contamination, compaction, sealing, and loss of biodiversity. As the main implementation instrument, the “A Soil Deal for Europe” Mission was launched, aiming to establish 100 living labs by 2030, promoting innovative and sustainable soil management solutions.
The Mission is structured around four operational objectives:
